BC Family Doctor Day: Celebrating Burnaby’s Family Physicians

A message from James Musgrave, Executive Director, Burnaby Division of Family Practice

Dear members,

Today is BC Family Doctor Day, and I want to take a moment to say thank you on behalf of the Burnaby Division of Family Practice, our Board, and our staff.

Every day, you provide longitudinal, comprehensive care for patients and families across Burnaby, often while navigating full panels, lab results and imaging, forms and referrals, care coordination with specialists and community services, inbox demands, and the many unseen pieces of work that happen before, between, and after patient visits.

We also know that this work can, at times, take you away from family and personal time—especially those of you who work after hours in our UPCCs or take on leadership roles in our community by participating in the various committees that help drive the work of primary care in Burnaby.

At the Division, we have the privilege of seeing how much of this work is visible to patients—and how much of it is not. From the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful to you and the care you provide.

Days like today also remind us of the purpose behind our work as a Division: to support you in practical ways, strengthen the services and systems that sit behind that support, and help sustain family practice in Burnaby for the long term.

Thank you, as always, for the care you provide.

In partnership and with great respect,

James Musgrave, M.E.d., RCC
Executive Director
Burnaby Division of Family Practice
