Burnaby Division of Family Practice shares new strategic plan to support family physicians

The Burnaby Division of Family Practice is pleased to share its 2026–2029 Strategic Plan, setting a clear direction for how the Division will strengthen support for family physicians and primary care in Burnaby over the next three years.

The plan reflects insights gathered over the past year through member conversations, survey feedback, partner perspectives, and strategic planning sessions with the Board of Directors, staff, and executive team. Across these discussions, one message came through clearly: meaningful support for family physicians must be practical and grounded in the realities of day-to-day practice.

The plan focuses on three key priorities:

Increasing direct hands-on practice support:
Providing practical tools, services, and resources that reduce administrative burden and help make practice more sustainable.

Strengthening the Division’s effectiveness through a thriving staff team:
Investing in the people and systems that allow the Division to deliver consistent, high-quality support to members.

Expanding recruitment efforts:
Bringing more family physicians into the community and supporting the long-term sustainability of family care in Burnaby.

Implementation of the plan will be integrated into the Division’s operational planning and budgeting cycles, with regular updates shared with members as the work moves forward.

Together, these priorities will help ensure Burnaby remains a place where patients and physicians are achieving health and happiness.
